Mortgage valuations:  Instructed on standard mortgage valuations by lending institutions, the main purpose of the report is to inform the party of the market value of the property.  BKW act for many of the high street banks and building societies providing accurate valuations to the lenders and peace of mind to their customers

Private valuations:  In certain circumstances, purchasers or vendors are not requiring to borrow money but wish to know the accurate value and state of repair of a property.

Homebuyers reports:  This offers a more detailed survey on your property than a standard mortgage valuation. It is a concise report set out on a standard form from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors

Building surveys:  This is sometimes known as a full structural survey. It is a lengthier report than a homebuyers and tailored to the individual property.

Condition reports:  Specifically aimed at identifying and solving defects with properties, the report achieves its aim with the use of descriptive text and photographic evidence.

Red Book valuations:  ‘Red Book’ refers to the RICS guidelines and to the format in which these reports are presented. The report includes a basic description of the property and its location, along with its market value.

Right to buy valuations:  Also known as leasehold enfranchisement valuations, they are undertaken when either the leaseholder wishes to purchase, or the freeholder wishes to sell the freehold interest in a property.
