Think once I had comitted, they knew they had me.
I e mailed a question scanning back some of the documents but never got a response - worked it out in the end myself. Specifically e mailed stating that I was on holiday at a certain point and asked if I could be rung so that I had peace of mind on a balance transfer but I had to ring the office myself to find out which obviously cost me as I was over seas - a simple text was requested (I know my contact was on holiday but an instruction could have been left with a colleague). My sellers estate agents told me the transaction had gone through on the day.
Thing is when dealing with situations like this - buying a house is near the top of anyones stress list and it is personal to that individual, a solicitors might have 100 houses going through at varuious stages of the process but they should never lose sight or forget the personal touch. To have a thank you at the end of the transaction for giving them the business might not go a miss too. In my case I was not buying a castle and it was probably not worth much to the solicitors but it is my castle I bought and the monies for the service was a lot to me. Might sound like I moaning but probably got the level or a satisfactory service I expected.

This company are excellent. They kept me in touch with every single element of moving. They have an online system which means every week I received a text and an email updating me on progress. This means I didnt have to chase with phone calls. I was always aware of what was happening and this made me feel very confident about the way things were progressing. They were very efficient, except for one mishap at the beginning where they sent my papers to start their services to the property I was buying. Fortunately it wasn't an empty property. I reported this to them and they were most apologetic but from then on I couldn't fault them. I received regular emails and texts updating me on the progress and when it came to exchange and contract I was phoned and it went through very quickly on the same day with no extra cost.
