Marcel Blum's unique service could hardly be more different from the common box-ticking approach of many surveyors. Marcel's background as an architect was particularly useful to us as we intended to reshape the property we asked him to survey, and his comments on our ideas were very useful. From the start, when Marcel called me before I'd finished reading the competing quotes on the reallymoving web-site, through to the provision of a comprehensive, clearly-expressed survey report, with supporting pictures, the service provided was highly pro-active, tailored and professional. Highly recommended for those who want a personalised service.

Not only did Marcel produce an extremely detailed and helpful survey (summarized on phone immediately, and sent on beautiful paper, with photographs, soon after), he also advised me in what turned out to be excellent ways on other aspects of my purchase. Overall he struck me as extremely capable and proactive - he tended to call me before I got round to calling him, and at one point he even got in touch with the seller directly. He is a lovely person, down-to-earth, gets to the point, with attention to detail, and clever. There were numerous times during the purchase process when I thanked my lucky stars that I had employed him as my surveyor. I cannot recommend Marcel highly enough.

We used Marcel to conduct a full buildings survey on a property we had made an offer on.
I'm v glad we used him as his report was both extremely thorough but also easy to understand. He included a covering letter, in clear language, that was a synopsis of all the elements that required our attention and that enabled us to come to a view on the state of the property relatively easily. In the body of the report there was enough detail for our solicitor's requirements (she herself praised the report's thoroughness) and finally I spoke with Marcel on the phone numerous times between him performing the survey and my receiving the report so I felt kept abreast of the relevant issues from the beginning and was able to sense check my thinking with him when I needed to. I'd strongly recommend him.

Very slight disappointment that I was offered the survey within 2 days- but on contacting the surveyor this changed to 3 days.

Marcel is a very helpful surveyor who was thorough and informative. He called straight after completing the survey to discuss the results and was still happy to answer my queries after receiving the report. He raised a number of issues which eventually led us to withdraw our offer but we would be willing to use him again on our next survey.

Marcel provided a very comprehensive service, including taking time to explain matters in full to me verbally following the survey being carried out prior to a written report being prepared. He also referred me to excellent specialists - structural engineer and damp proof contractors - to carry out further investigations whose high standards were in line with his. We also had several follow up phone calls, his commitment not waning in any way after the final written report had been provided. I was initially concerned about the price of the full building survey, at £1,500, but the overall quality of service from initial contact with Marcel to follow-up phonecalls has been excellent. Would not hesitate to use his services again.

We found Marcel on the reallymoving website. He is so efficient and professional with our survey. He did help us with one property especially the potential transformation of the loft. The website was really useful for getting a list of local quotes quickly and with feedback - great service. It's still a punt, but at least not quite such an arbitrary decision as just looking in the local Yellow Pages!
Marcel was in contact straight away, and since we were erring on the side of a full buildings survey, made the decision to spend that much money a bit easier as he was able to articulate the detail in his survey and reports and send samples.
The report was professional and very detailed and Marcel made himself available to talk through various issues. Not getting much done immediately out of the items reported, but would certainly not like to have not known about them at all and had any of them surprise me in years to come!

Marcel was wonderful from the start, very attentive and attention to detail was great. I was upset at the time when he told me not to purchase the studio flat, but i have since realised that it was taken off the market as it couldnt be sold in the state that it was in due to fire safety regulations. if i had purchased it I would have lost all my money. Thank you Marcel I will be contacting you again when i find the right place.

Marcel Blum saved us a great deal of money and a very great deal of anxiety.The property needed remedial work - we were prepared for that. Marcel showed us that the problems ran much deeper. He gave us chapter and verse and we abandoned the purchase. It wasn't only a matter of money. It was the consequences (how insurable was the property going to be, for example) that Marcel fielded up.
He was the most expensive option of the four recommendations, but he earned his fee many many times over and saved us from probably a year or two of grief. Well done indeed. .

Marcel acted very professionally and I got some extra bits of advice which I really appreciate. The survey was carried in great detail and is proving to be of immense value. I have no hesitation in saying I would use his services again if an opportunity arises again to purchase a property in my lifetime. I am seriously contemplating of assigning the architechtural aspect of the improvements that I plan to do. Marcel was very thorough in his work and prompt with documentation and feedback. Most importantly, we felt that where he highlighted issues with the property, he made a huge effort to help us to get to the bottom of the problem, so that we could make a decision as to whether we wanted to continue with the purchase or not. Marcel Blum went out of his way to accomodate my need to get the survey done as soon as possible, including phoning me with the results straight after completing the survey. As Marcel is an architect too, he is also able to give good advice on the potential to make changes to the property, both in terms of what is technically feasible and what would be aesthetically pleasing. Overall I would have to say he gave 6 star service!

Marcel, conducted the survey promptly and produced the report in a very short time. I believe he is highly competent and have already recommended him to friends.
