Bristol is one of the most popular cities to live in, a survey has discovered.
Home removal website ReallyMoving.com found that people living in Bristol were more likely to move within their postcode area than leave the city.
In fact Bristol has proved the second best in the country at retaining residents, coming just behind Edinburgh and ahead of Sheffield.
But Bath scored low on the poll and was seen as one of the least popular destinations with home movers.
More than 57 per cent of those moving house in Bristol opted to retain their postcode, whereas in Bath only 28 per cent were planning to stick around.
Elsewhere, in Gloucester, 51.8 per cent of movers planned to stay nearby, while in Salisbury just 24.6 per cent of movers were not leaving the area and in Dorchester that figure dropped to 19.1 per cent.
The findings come from analysis of 36,000 home- movers who turned to Reallymoving.com between July-December 2007.
Other cities with particularly loyal residents were Birmingham with 55 per cent, Liverpool with 54 per cent, Leeds with 51 per cent and Cardiff with 50 per cent of people staying put.
Rosie Rogers, co-founder and marketing manager of Reallymoving.com, said: "Reallymoving.com is in a unique position to disclose the pattern of home movers across the UK."
