Professor Property Advice
I have recently purchased a property which was extended by the previous owner.
I have been contacted by the VOA office re raising my council tax banding from D to F.
I have done some calculations from HPI and feel that the correct banding is a D. However, the council have rejected this saying it is to broad an estimate.
I have spoken to my local estate agent that I purchased the property from, and they only keep 3 years records of properties sold in the area.
Where can I get my property valued as to the sale price in April 1991?
My suggestion would be to go to Martin Lewis excellent money saving web site and read his article on appealing against council tax banding.
He has a method of working out what your property value should have been in 1991.
Go to: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/council-tax-bands-change
Good luck
Also a site I use for house values is www.houseprices.co.uk
