When can an estate agent advertise my property?
When can an estate agent advertise my property?
Estate agents cannot start to market your property until a Home Information Pack, which meets the minimum requirements, is available for prospective buyers. This means that estate agents cannot put up ‘for sale’ boards, contact their buyer’s database, place newspaper adverts or advertise on property websites until a Home Information Pack is in place. Local Trading Standards can levy a £200 fine if properties are marketed without the appropriate HIP in place.
