I hear horror stories about the housing market, is it sensible to buy at this point in time? Becs (asked 24th September 2010)
In my humble opinion, yes, now is a really good time to buy. Prices are depressed and since the abolition of HIPs, there are a lot of properties on the market. The big barrier to entry seems to be getting a mortgage confirmed. Most mortgage lenders are asking for a 25% deposit. The cost of many moving services, such as conveyancing and removals, may also have come down as providers attempt to win business during tougher market conditions.
