Avoiding stamp duty is illegal
Can I sell my 350K house to my friend for 250K so that he saves 7,500 in stamp duty. The rest of the money (100K), he will give to me in cash. Is this legal?
No it isn’t legal. You are trying to evade taxation. I think the Inland Revenue may not like it. That’s not to say it doesn’t happen, but I couldn’t recommend it.
