Professor Property Advice

I am close to exchange on my house purchase. The vendor has contacted me to say that one of the wardrobes that she is taking has not been carpeted underneath as the carpet was only laid to the edge of the wardrobe. It is a very large unit but not built in. Does she have a responsibility to re-carpet the area that was under the wardrobe or can she just remove the wardrobe and leave me with a large uncarpeted area?

I would look at the estate agents details; Do they say the property was being fully carpeted. Is there a mention of fully fitted carpets? Unless you've explicitly agreed otherwise, I'm not aware of anything which prevents the vendor from removing the wardrobe and leaving a gap in the carpet.  Sorry.
