Repairs to property
We are currently in the process of selling our property. It is a split level flat with ground floor and basement. When we purchased the property 3 years ago we have the basement damp proofed and this is under 30 year guarantee. We had sold the flat, but when the surveyor came round he found signs of damp in the basement and the buyer withdrew. The company has honoured their guarantee and will come back and repair the property. However, it will take 6 weeks to dry out. Would you recommend putting the property straight back on the market or carry out the repairs and wait at least 2 months before we can remarket the property?
If you can afford to wait, I probably would. Otherwise make sure buyers are aware of the problems and keep it on the market. Make sure the report is visible and that you are doing the work.
