Do i have to pay the agent's fees

I just sold a house, and I am getting phone calls from an Estate Agent for a fee. The house was sold yesterday. I was doing a deal with the buyer before, but when the Estate Agent got involved I then decided to let the agent do all the communications. After many months of no action the Estate Agents told me the deal was dead. I then spent 5 months emailing the buyers and agreed terms and the sale price. After the completion the Estate Agent chased me for a fee claiming I had an agreement with them. After looking through many emails I came across an email that says that I agreed a fee on completion of 28 days. That lapsed over 6 months ago, does the agent have a right to charge me a fee even though I have no written agreement or any of there terms of sale. So am I liable for their fees?

That’s tough to answer without all the details. I would ask the agent to send you a copy of the contract they have with you highlighting where the fees you are liable to pay are due. Maybe speak to a property solicitor, you can get an instant quote here at reallymoving.com
