Buying a house near work

I have recently sold a property in Edinburgh. From this sale I was able to amass £110,000 to put towards a future property. Currently I am living, working and renting in London.   The advice I require is whether to purchase a property in London. I am living in the Maida Vale area which I love and properties here will stretch me up to nearly £300,000 for a one bed. However I have always considered Edinburgh to be my home and would like to buy a very long term property here. I am utterly confused as to what to do? Any advice would be appreciated.

You are confused aren’t you? Is there a relative or a friend that could help that you could talk to. I’m sorry, but I cannot really advise you on such a personal and specific matter.  Property has historically been a generally good investment, and people that have stretched themselves have done well, but there’s no guarantee that this will be the case in future. Maybe have a look at reallymoving.com's property page as a guide to the current house prices.
