We are buying a property which is about 300mts away from the railway line. There are four rows of houses between ours and the railway line. Is it ok or would it be a lot of disturbance? Ideally, what should be the distance between one's house and the railway line?
There’s no simple answer to this – it depends on the scale of the railway line, whether it runs at night, whether it’s sunk in a cutting or exposed, and your personal acceptance of noise. I’d suggest spending a bit of time near the property and see what you think, and talk to the neighbours. It depends principally on the price though!
