Professor Property Advice
I already have a property which I have owned since 1999 but it currently houses my father's ex-wife and their children. I do not charge her any rent and by law she has to be housed there until my father's oldest child reaches 17years old (which is about another five years to go) What I am worried is a friend was talking to me about a 10 year ruling stating if there has not been any correspondence between myself and the person living in my house then they after 10 years will automatically own it.
If this is true should I talk to a solicitor and charge a peppercorn rent before this 10 year ruling is up.
Take legal Advice; I would hope that the agreement between your father and his ex wife might have taken into consideration the fact that neither of them actually owned the property they were living in. Interesting, and yet scary.
