My mortgage has been pre-approved and it’s soon to be confirmed. I understand the mortgage lender will provide a survey, but I’m concerned it won’t be thorough enough. Is it worth getting a second one done? My estate agent has offered me a surveyor from their company but I’m nervous it will be biased.
Answer
Mortgage valuation surveys are only for the benefit of the lender so they can get their money back if necessary. They may well not share the details of the survey with you, so we recommend that you get your own survey. The surveyor can then talk you through any issues that need sorting or negotiating and you then own that survey.
