Movers of the Year Awards 2018

We're pleased to congratulate two of our removals partners on winning big at the BAR conference this month.

We were very pleased to be by the sea side last week at the BAR (British Association of Removers) Conference in Bournemouth. We really enjoy going to the conferences, not only to catch up with our partners and see some friendly faces, but to chat to new companies who haven’t worked with us.

Whilst hearing some excellent speakers is always a great part of the day, we were especially excited to see two of our partners win BAR awards, celebrating excellence in the industry.

Our friends Squab Removals won Domestic Mover of the Year 2018, for the second year running! Squab started in 2005 and as a family run company, they know the importance of great customer service. That’s why they not only provide domestic removals and storage, but they are a BAR approved training centre, teaching others how to do it too.

Emlyn Evans of Squab Removals said:

‘We were so surprised to win again given that we had won the previous year and the competition we were up against. It is a real testament to our customers’ support, as well as the team at Squab and all the work they put in on a day to day basis. We are all so grateful.

‘We are looking forward to another good year this year and things have started off well. Our training centre and purpose built house in proving to be an invaluable resource to us internally for improving our own knowledge, but we’re also enjoying the fact that we can allow other companies to come and benefit from our training services too through the BAR training courses that are available.’

Another partner who was a winner on the night is GB Liners, who won Overseas Mover of the Year 2018. With the HQ in Hereford, GB Liners has a range of branches from Brighton up to Aberdeen.

GB Liners believe that invested workers offer great service, which is why they operate a share ownership scheme that allows staff to own part of the business they’re involved in.

Rob Bartup of GB Liners said:

‘We were very pleased and pleasantly surprised to have won. We were also impressed by the very kind comments from other BAR members who suggested it was much deserved.’

We’d also like to wish Rob a belated birthday as it’s a significant one – a BAR win must have been a great present!

The BAR awards really do reward some of the most innovative, successful and hardworking companies in the business, and we’re always proud when our partners are featured.
