How can I describe my experience with Gorvins? Nothing less than Shambolic! We originally went with them as quickly obtained a reasonable quote for a great sales person at the firm and reading the 5-star reviews on line thought we were in good hands. Getting the quote quickly was the only 5-star service we received. We were informed that the purchase would take 6 to 8 weeks to go through as it was a new build already completed with no chain. Little did we know at the time that this timescale was completely unrealistic for Gorvins as they ‘had too much work on’ The seller’s solicitor was brilliant getting a draft copy of the contract over in little under 2 weeks which should have made the process smoother. However, after being passed to 4 different solicitors we where finally told 6 weeks in that Gorvins would review the contract and send questions. We had secured an advantageous price on the property due to agreeing to move fast and therefore the only reason Gorvins acted at this point was because the seller was threatening to pull out. Post the questions being raised the level of service went from bad to worse. We were told that we were in the final stages of the contract and would be ready to complete very soon, on this information from our solicitor we handed in our notice on our rented accommodation, thinking we would have an overlap of a couple of weeks. This is where all communication stopped, we rang the solicitor 3 or four times a day to try and get an update, with no success. There were always in a meeting, on the phone or on a two-hour lunch. We had no replies to emails apart from to receive our solicitors out of office who we hadn’t been told had gone on annual leave for 2 weeks. During the next month we were passed to 3 more solicitors who each took on average 3 to 4 days to review the file. At this point we were now homeless and had to move into a hotel. I don’t think the flaws of this company are down to the individual solicitors, I genuinely think they are firefighting as Gorvins take on too much work. They must have client like myself in frustrated and untenable situations all the time and therefore hate answering the phone. In the end we took matters into our own hands and any documents that were required form the third-party solicitor or from the mortgage company we sourced ourselves and sent them directly to Gorvins by courier if necessary, incurring a great deal more expense. Gorvins were on the cheaper end of the scale but when we add together hotel costs, dog kennel fees, storage for furniture and all the hours we spent everyday on the phone doing their job for them, they cost us more than the most expensive quote Use them at your peril

Lack of communication. Conveyancing has still not been completed and I'm not sure why. Did not like the way the case was handed over to junior staff members. Queries on the phone we're not joined up with the email and hard copy info. Did not seem to be a proper file kept containing all info from all sources.

The work carried out never caused problems. BUT, communication was appalling. In future I would pay more for a company with better coms skills. It would take Gorvins over 24 hrs to reply to a simple email. Constantly having to ask for updates or send more emails as they had not answered my questions. Towards the exchange date, the member of staff I had was off Ill, can't be helped, but no one took over nor told me! I was left without a point of contact. They very rarely answered the phone and never responded to be my requests to be called. They also were not making sure the other side had completed their parts, this delayed the exchange by over a month. Our date was set back 4 times and took so much longer than predicted.

Had 4 people deal With the process, it was great until communication was lost on the last person in the company dealing with it. That said after a few phone calls it was eventually sorted and on time. Thought they were going to let us down last minute but didn't.
