Poor communication. Rude. Fail to respond to emails. Nearly cost me the purchase of my property. Lied about work they'd done and status of the purchase.
Reilly & Co welcomes all feedback good and not so good. We do not accept the suggestion of rudeness nor a delay by this Firm in dealing with the transaction.If there was any delay in the transaction it was caused on part certainly by the client's failure to pay money on account of searches for almost 6 weeks which meant that searches could not be ordered and the matter could not therefore proceed.
A reference to this Firm lying about the transaction is untrue and defamatory.

They were not the cheapest quote, I found another company elsewhere but decided to go with this one as I thought they were proactive and included everything. I was wrong, they take ages to respond to my emails and at this point although we are near completion I am wondering whether it is too late to find another solicitor that can represent me as they can't be bothered to even keep me updated with any progress. I'm extremely disappointed. When they first contacted me they were always on the phone and responsive and it as if as soon I chose them to represent me it stopped.

My husband and I chose Reilly because they were a solicitors that offered a suite of services, not just conveyancing. For instance, we wanted to build a relationship with them and use them for our wills. They were not the cheapest quote but they were local, had excellent ratings and were able to provide more services once our house purchase was complete. However, we were mislead by the ratings and the level of service that their first contact representative promised us. Below are examples of the poor service we received:
1. We had a 2 week period where no phone calls or emails were returned. It felt like we were communicating into a vacuum. When I first raised this with the legal assistant (via phone) and solicitor (via email) we were not heard. I had to send 2x disparaging emails before reasonable communication and acknowledgment of poor service was made.
2. Despite us having 3 major surveys on the property, our solicitor informed us over the phone, that the property was at high risk of subsidence. This was very upsetting and made us reconsider the purchase. When the solicitor sent the subsidence report through it was for another property 20miles away from ours.
3. Our contract and search pack was over 300 pages, 50 pages of which were about a property which was 20 miles away from the property were purchasing. This means that on 2 occasions our purchase paperwork was being mixed up with someone else's.
4. I received 3 different client letters which is the agreement letter of engagement between the client and Reilly. The client letter includes a pricing breakdown. By the 3rd client letter my overall total to pay had increased by £800, despite the fact that our seller provided all the searches. This was because the legal assistant admitted he had not double checked our payable stamp duty total.
Reilly has excellent ratings via Reallymoving.com which references fantastic communication. I did not receive a lot of communication and on the occasions that I did I was either not heard or the information was incorrect.
We did not progress with our property purchase so we are on the hunt for a house again. I will not be using Reilly for my next purchase.
Reilly & Co welcomes all feedback whether positive or otherwise, constructively and with a view to improving our services. We therefore thank the client for bringing these issues to our attention albeit online and not by way of a direct approach to the Firm.
In this particular case, it is unfortunate the client had concern over 2 issues, namely an increase in the overall amount to be paid due to a corrected Stamp Duty figure and the fact that there was a search provided to the client that did not relate to the property they were looking to purchase. From time to time human error occurs and the Firm offers its unreserved apology to the client for such errors.
On the transaction generally, the client seemed to appreciate all work undertaken on their behalf and by way of example are extracts from communications received from the client:
"Thanks for your prompt reply and information."
"That's 100% what I want to hear from you. We need you to protect us...."
"That's great. Thanks for the update."
It is also unfortunate that the client did not record in the feedback the work that had been undertaken by the Firm on behalf of the client. In particular, the additional work undertaken because of a more complicated process that had not been known to the Firm until the transaction had begun which included the fact that the matter could not proceed within the time constraints imposed by the seller in circumstances where the seller was not showing as the registered owner of the property and could not provide evidence until well beyond the dates imposed by them. This is in addition to the extra work required to accommodate a change in the client’s own arrangements.
The Firm wishes to make it known that other than surveyors and search fees (paid to third parties and relating to the Property), the client did not pay this Firm any abortive legal costs for all work undertaken on the client’s behalf.

This is the most incompetent conveyancer I have ever used. They were unable to answer simple questions and basic points of law.
Emails and phone calls go ignored. They were rude and abrupt towards the estate agent and buyers solicitor.
Furthermore, they overcharged when it came to sending a bill.
The client’s comments are most unfortunate and denied. The fee earner dealing with the matter is a qualified lawyer and has more than 25 years conveyancing experience. Emails and phone calls were not ignored and we were neither rude nor abrupt towards the estate agent and the buyer's solicitors. The suggestion of overcharging is also incorrect in circumstances where information regarding costs was made known to the client on two separate occasions and more importantly at the outset of the transaction. The client accepted those costs without question by signing a duplicate copy of the Firms’ Client Care Letter which clearly set out all costs associated with the conveyancing process.

Very professional company, communicated well with me and provide a face to face meeting to go though in detail the contract. I have since recommended this company to my brother who is purchasing a property. This is the best solicitor I have used and will use them from now on for all my property purchasing and selling.
