Verulam reallymoving at Fete du Velo

We were thrilled this weekend to be able to support the Verulam reallymoving racing team at the Fete du Velo on the picturesque Redbourn Common.

Run by The Bike Loft, The Hub and Verulam Cycling club, the event has been going for 5 years, and is a great community gathering with the opportunity to experience the excitement of bike racing, as well as music, kids’ events and delicious food stalls.

Races ranged from a ‘scooter race’ for the very young visitors, a fifty mile sportive, up to the British Cycling women and men’s category 2,3,4 which proved fast and hot for all!

On a scorching hot day, it was incredibly impressive to see the riders working so hard in their races, and the youth team did especially well.

We are particularly delighted to confirm that Verulam reallymoving.com Racing Team had two youth winners; the dynamic Watson siblings.  Matt Watson won the under 16s and sister Beth won the under 12s.

One of the organisers, Lindy from The Bike Loft said:

"The Fete du Velo was a successful event, attracting lots of cyclists, potential and British Cycling Club members. All were delighted to have the veteran Cycling Commentator Phil Liggett of TV Channel 4 fame talking on the tannoy about "their" race! We managed to get our friend Phil to visit us for the day before he joins the great circus known as Le Tour de France.

With live music, great outdoor food, a Tapped Beer bar (and extra sunshine thrown in too) it was enjoyed by all who attended!"

It was a fantastic way to enjoy the summer sunshine with family and friends. If you want to support the Verulam reallymoving race team at their next local event, you can find them at the Chiltern 100 Cycling Festival on the 15th July.
