Before you book a removal service it is very important to choose a company with the right insurance cover.

If your service provider is fully insured then you are in a good position (I would recommend reading terms and conditions, which should have been supplied to you). If the screws were lost by your removal team, they are obligated to address that problem.

Here, they have options:

• The removals company can always try and repair the item at their own expense.

• If the repair is not satisfactory, you may ask them to start the insurance process. The insurance company will then evaluate the costs of further repairs, replacement or financial compensation. Please be aware that insurance claims usually have to be made within 7 days of the move.
