Great Western Surveys is an independent practice run by Andrew Alvis, a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience. Established in 2009, we maintain our status as a small business, thereby ensuring that all customers speak directly to Andrew and receive a professional yet personal service.
We have a high focus on delivering quality advice with a clear focus for the client's individual requirements.
Our survey fees are affordable yet we will never compromise on quality. We pride ourselves on our speed of service.
Andrew carries out surveys on all types of homes including town, village and rural properties. He ensures that his Clients receive the best advice and survey type, taking into account the age and style of the property and their particular requirements. He has particular specialism in period and listed buildings and offers a comprehensive report on their condition, including practical advice and reassurance. He is keen to ensure that his Clients understand the needs of an old building and advises on the correct use of traditional materials to enable an old building to perform well.
Andrew believes that good communication is essential and always discusses his Client’s requirements with them before they commission the survey. All of his inspections are followed by a telephone call, to discuss the main findings, before the report is sent. Of particular note is the fact that Andrew invites all of his Building Survey Clients to meet him at the property, at the end of the inspection, to walk through the building, point out the main features and defects and answer any questions.
As an RICS Registered Valuer, Andrew maintains a close eye on the local property market and can provide accurate valuation advice. He is keen to ensure that his Clients do not pay too much and will advise them, where appropriate, to re-negotiate the purchase price to reflect the costs of repairs and other problems.
