HomeBuyer Report

Sanctioned by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors the HomeBuyer Report covers the following:

  • Inspection of each element of the property
  • Identification of any major faults
  • Identification of urgent problems that may require further inspection
  • Damage to timbers
  • Results of damp testing within the walls
  • Estimated cost of rebuilding for insurance purposes

The length of time the inspection takes is dependent on the size of the property and the extent of any identified defects. Typically a three-bedroom house in reasonable condition will take from 2 hours. The report will then be made available within 5 working days.

Building Surveys

A full building survey is a detailed report on the condition of a property. Each accessible part of the property is inspected and any necessary repairs and anticipated costs will be identified (cost of repairs is available at an additional cost).

. The building survey covers the following:

  • Major and minor defects
  • Possible cost of repairs
  • Damp tests and timber damage
  • Condition of damp proofing, insulation and drainage
  • Technical information and materials used
  • Recommendation for further inspections

The length of time the inspection takes is dependent on the size of the property and the extent of any identified defects. Typically a three-bedroom house in reasonable condition will take from 3 hours. The report will then be made available within 6 working days.

We actually had to cancel our survey in the end but White Horse gave us absolutely fantastic customer service and did everything they could to help us out. They also refunded us very quickly.

I requested the survey to include a large outbuilding and was charged a supplement of £40 which I was happy with. However the Survey report did not include any reference to the outbuilding. White Horse offered me a £40 refund but not even an apology.

Thank you for your comments. I am very sorry this happened, I’ve spoken with David and he assures me he has made a number of calls and left voice mail’s to apologise and talk to you. I’m afraid in this instance there was confusion over your request and we should have never agreed to tell you about the foundations, if the building was torn down. This isn’t something we would be able to tell you, as our Survey’s are non-intrusive. You would need to get advice from a Builder, or Structural Engineer. I have re-briefed the team, to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Once again, I am really very sorry, if you would like to talk it through any more, please give me a call.
