Newcastle-under-Lyme, a market town in northern Staffordshire and just west of Stoke-on-Trent, has a proud industrial heritage. Known for a number of industries, from felt hat making to brick manufacturing, there are nearly 70 listed buildings in the area, a lot of them listed due to their industrial significance. A popular place to live, Newcastle-under-Lyme helped over 250 people move into the area in the 12 months before June 2016.
As a historic industrial town many properties were built in the 18th and 19th centuries, and so it is definitely worth getting a report done by a Chartered Surveyor, whether opting for an extensive Building Survey or a more general HomeBuyer Report. A survey of the property you are looking to move into is absolutely paramount because the survey find any problems with the house before you move in. The cost of a Chartered Surveyor is relatively small in comparison to costs that could be incurred later down the line if repairs were ever needed.
Hopefully the report from our RICS regulated professional surveyors give you the ‘all clear’ to move in to your house, or make you aware of anything that needs to be done to the property before you do. Once settled into your new home, take the time to explore the Newcastle-under-Lyme area. Whether going to see the Potters play at the Britannia, or visiting the beautiful Keele Hall and its grounds, you won’t be at a loose end for things to do.
