Christopher White Associates are a long established; independent firm of Chartered Building Surveyors. Based just outside of Colchester in the heart of the Tendring area we have established an excellent reputation locally for our friendly, prompt and professional approach to our work.

Covering all aspects of building surveying; we have specialist knowledge of building pathology and considerable expertise lies in surveying and inspecting private property prior to purchase. We offer the Full Condition Survey which is usually undertaken on older properties built before the 1950’s or if a house has been extensively altered or extended or is of non traditional construction. We also carry out the RICS Homebuyers Report which is designed for newer properties built since the 1950’s. Both reports are clear and concise covering all accessible parts of the prospective purchase.

CWA are aware of and fully understand the important decisions to be made when considering buying a property and strive to assist in any way we can to help our client’s come to an informed decision as to whether the property is a viable proposition or not. Whilst the Homebuyers Reports are in set format, our Full Condition Reports can be ‘tailored’ to meet our clients requirements and we are often asked for and are willing to provide estimated costs of required work, brief specifications of work, an opinion as to whether or not extending the property would be viable and an opinion of the standard of existing works and extensions.

With over 30 years experience; Chris White has a wealth of knowledge about the construction of a variety of buildings and the various defects and problems that can arise either through neglect or general use and age. Over the years he has become somewhat of a specialist in older; period and listed buildings and has gained a reputation for his clear, knowledgeable yet sympathetic no nonsense approach to reporting on historic buildings.

Being an independent family run firm; CWA are not influenced by internal constraints and motives of larger companies. We offer a personal approach and direct contact with the surveyor both during and if required; after the inspection is carried out following up any questions or queries that might arise. Whilst our ’local patch’ is the Tendring area and Colchester district; we are frequently asked; and are more than willing to travel further distances covering all of Essex and Suffolk as well as south Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
