Do I still need a Property Information Questionnaire?
I know that the Property Information Questionnaire used to be part of the HIP but now that HIPs have been suspended do I still need to provide a Property Information Questionnaire when selling my house?
No, you don't have to - the suspension of HIPs took effect on May 21st and since that time homeowners selling properties in the UK are not required to complete a Property Information Questionnaire. The LibCon Government were clear in their early manifestos that if elected, HIPs would be abolished so it's very unlikely that HIPs will be reintroduced in the near future. The only part of HIPs that have not been suspended are Energy Performance Certificates; these are still a legal requirement so ensure you arrange for one to be completed during the selling process. In addition, you will need to complete a Fixtures, Fittings and Contents form and also a Seller's Property Information Form. If selling a leasehold property you'll need to complete a Leasehold Property Information Form. Your conveyancing solicitor will provide you with these forms during the conveyancing process.
