The surveyor failed to provide estimates for defects highlighted in the report despite numerous requests.

Whilst we always try to provide as much information for clients as we can, this client had asked before the survey if we would provide cost estimates. We clearly stated that we would not due to the current building cost inflation situation. We did provide a clear list of quotes that he should get. The client emailed us when we had issued the report asking for cost estimates and we pointed out that we had already told them that we could not currently provide these. It is unfortunate that the client despite being told before we undertook the survey that we could not provide estimates now feels it is acceptable to give a poor review.

Laurie was fantastic, very prompt and kept us in the loop at all times! Our survey was taken out very quickly and we received the report the next day. Our report was very detailed and provided us with all the necessary information we required. Fantastic company to go with - especially being first time buyers!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was really impressed in the beginning, they were able to get in to view the property within a week from our initial conversation, communicating with them via email they were very responsive, and paying was a really straightforward process. Once I received the report I was pretty disappointed, it's clear that either a template report is used or they just copy and paste from previous ones, which in itself is not a bad thing at all, but there was absolutely no attention to detail. The report was littered with grammatical errors and even had sentences that were missing key bits of information and just trailed off into nothing, so in the process of copying and pasting no care had gone into updating the information. The report was issued on the same day which was great, but since receiving it I have had absolutely no engagement. I have been chasing them for three weeks trying to get an answer to something raised in the report, and have had absolutely nothing back despite multiple chaser emails. I would not use this firm again and would advise people to stay away - spend your money somewhere else.

We are always very disappointed to receive poor reviews and always treat each customer as an individual. We do not cut and past reports and each one is written individually. Unfortunately, we had just introduced a new software package for the HomeBuyers reports following the introduction by the RICS of the new HomeBuyers template and we had been experiencing some teething issues with it. We had not received any communication from this client following the report being issued and were not aware of any issues or problems. We encourage all our clients to give us a call once they have received the report to discuss any issues raised and if there is a typo or an error or even a grammatical error we would like to know. I think our previous feedback scores speak for themselves and we take customer satisfaction very seriously and are customer and service orientated company. We will take on board this feedback, review and amend procedures if needed.

I choose Gavaghan Jones because of their reviews and surely their professionalism and expertise live up to all other reviews. I contact Gavaghan Jones Surveyors before I asked them to carry out a survey. I spoke with Ross who was very supportive. Even before instructing the company to carry out the survey Ross explained fully the different between a Building Survey and a Home Buyers Survey. I requested for Building Survey to be done. This survey saved me from buying a property that I would be stuck with and unable to sell in the future. After the survey I spoke with Laurie who did the survey. Laurie listened intensive to all my question regarding the survey.
