Matthews & Co is a well-established surveying company that specialise in providing residential surveys to home buyers. All of the surveyors at Matthews & Co have many years’ experience in this type of work and can offer you a professional and highly skilful service.

We are an independent company that established in 1979. We take pride in our reputation for providing our clients with high quality reports and greatly detailed surveys.

Since 1979 we have progressed with the time, evolving to be able to continuously meet the changing needs of our clients by providing the most recent services. We use modern technology and methods to ensure we are up to date with the latest industry developments.

We provide a range of residential services, including the three standard house survey types:

  • Homebuyers Reports
  • Building Surveys

We can also provide a service for Leasehold Enfranchisement and Party Wall and Boundary Disputes.

The service I received from start to finish has been excellent. It was so easy to get an appointment, with various dates available. The surveyor was extremely thorough and very helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

I'm not sure if this is the industry trend but this is the second survey I have had done with two different firms and they were both similar in terms of their service. As soon as they have your money, attitude changes. The report was fine, lots of non-committal language like "generally", "reasonable", "seem to...", "appears" etc. I would have expected a confirmation call that the survey went ahead (i had to ask via Email). I also would've expected a call from the surveyor that day to give me a high-level idea before the report is issued. 5 working days meant a week (including weekend) with no contact, no idea whether the house was falling apart or whether will be safe to proceed. Report was then EMailed to us: "Please find attached... Many thanks for using Matthews & Co." That does not really make me feel like they are happy for me to contact them or get back in touch. No follow-up, no call with anyone to talk through any points or to make sure we were happy with it and understood everything. Maybe I just expect a high level of service but these seemed like basic things to me.

We pride ourselves on our service and our feedback to date attests to that. We do not accept that once money was paid our attitude changed. We advised you of the date of the survey when we forwarded our confirmation of instructions, our response times to all of your emails ranged between 2 minutes to 3.5 hours and our report was provided within the agreed 5 working days. Once a survey is booked we only contact our clients if there is a change we need to inform them about or if we are specifically asked to do so. Our staff are happy to discuss any issues or queries clients may have and in light of your comments we have amended our accompanying email for the report to ensure that this aspect of our service is clear to all clients in future.
