Filey is a town on the North Yorkshire coast that sits above one of the hidden gems of the British seaside, the Filey Bay. The town is at one end of this stunning bay and overlooks the sweeping, golden sands that stretch several miles south towards the imposing Bempton Cliffs. While the town has always been popular with tourists it has never been spoiled as the majority flock to more popular spots, such as nearby Scarborough. Well-kept Victorian town houses and Regency terraces offer views of the beach which is often busy on sunny days. But fear not, when the temperature drops, Filey has plenty of independent shops and restaurants for you to shelter in when needed.
The surrounding countryside is a nature-lover’s paradise. Just a short drive north of Filey you will find the picturesque North York Moors national park, the perfect location for walks and hikes. A little closer to home, the Bempton Cliffs themselves stand over 500ft tall at their highest point and are a popular nature reserve known for incredible birdlife.
