Brixham is lovely little town on the East Devon coast. Its beautiful harbour, stunning scenery, and sunny weather makes it one of the hottest destinations on the so-called English Riviera. Colourful cottages overlook the bay and provide incredible views across the sea to nearby Torquay. The town’s shopping centre has plenty of boutique shops and a growing food scene. The Maritime pub is one of the locals’ favourite watering holes while the Lytehouse restaurant and wine bar serves delicious food.
The historic town of Brixham overlooks one of the locations in which sir Francis Drake defeated the Spanish Armada. In his honour, a replica of his ship the Golden Hind is permanently moored in the harbour and is now an exciting museum attraction. If you are a nature lover, the town is surrounded by lush scenery that is perfect for long walks. Don’t miss a visit to Berry Head Nature Reserve and the stunning sunsets you can see from the headland which is marked by a lighthouse.
Just a short journey away, the art deco-style Shoalstone sea water swimming pool is a great location for swimming on sunny days and even better, its free!
