Simply removals still have not sent me a receipt for my removals. we moved on the 1st September and requested a receipt by email 2nd September we wonder long it takes to print a receipt and post it ? They were due between 2-4pm and did not arrive until 6.15pm and therefore we did not get into our new home until 9.30pm that evening. we called several times to chase them from 4.30pm and we told they 45 mins to an hour away. called again at 5.30 pm was told 7 miles away but they still didnt turn up till 6.15pm Simply removals provided foreign staff out of the 2 members only one spoke english which made it difficult to communicate with them, BUT i must stress the staff were FANTASTIC and VERY hard working.

The guys were friendly enough and offered to finish off the packing for me at £7 + VAT a box. I accepted....what a mistake.! Only when I started unpacking did I see that they had half-filled many boxes and they had taken items that were already bagged & labelled and simply put them in boxes. All this, no doubt, so that they could charge me for more "packing"! In addition, they damaged my fridge/freezer door and broke a glass door at the house I was moving out of. The company still won't respond to my emails and phone calls about the insurance and it's been over a week. I can see this still getting very messy indeed! It's a pity because they seemed so sharp and professional at first. This has been a costly mistake for me.

reallymoving.com is a great sefrvice as i needed a quick turnaround and it generated three companies for me to contact/they contacted me. simplyremoval.com you could tell where they cut corners to make them a cheaper quote for example packing was a bit hit and miss but noting was broken and they turned around the work in good time (apart form being very late on the first day)

These guys were quickest to respond and made me an offer that recognised my budget and situation. They were not only extremely efficient and committed on the day, but they were extremely polite and sensitive (it was an emotional day!). They tried their best with tricky furniture and corners, and where some things were just not meant to be, they came up with (splendid) alternative suggestions.

SimplyRemoval.com are, in my humble opinion, unprofessional, rude and discourteous. Apparently, the van we had booked broke down. Whilst this is nobody's fault, they failed to call either myself or my wife back following conversations in which Danny and Adam stated they would do. We simply wished to be updated on how long we would have to wait beyond our booked slot or whether we would even be able to move that day as planned. My wife had already travelled to London with our baby and she was waiting there with limited food and baby essentials. We wished to know whether she should stay because the move would be happening, albeit delayed, or whether the move was to be postponed and she should travel back. SimplyRemoval.com then failed to respond to several voicemail messages requesting information. These messages had to be left as our telephone numbers were recognised and ignored. Finally, my wife left a message stating that if they did not telephone back within 15 minutes then we were cancelling the booking. No call was received and I made alternative arrangements via yell.co.uk. Halfway through packing the alternative van I had arranged, a removal van drew up. I had a chat with the driver. He told me that he had been sent from another firm and had travelled from Richmond. I apologised for his inconvenience and explained the tale of woe to him. I expressed surprise that he had not been informed that we had cancelled the booking due to the lack of information over the previous couple of hours. With a world weary look he said that 'that sounded like them'. If there really was a breakdown (and it wasn't a case of a bigger and more lucrative job coming up at the last minute) then I fail to see how there can have been such an information blackout between the driver and the 'control centre'. Surely the driver has a mobile phone? Failing that, he could perhaps use a call box to report in. I spoke to Adam a good two hours after he had told my wife the van had broken down. In that time, I'm sure someone of a mechanical bent must have looked at the vehicle and decided a) it could not be repaired that day -sorry job cancelled or b) the problem is x and can be fixed in 2/4/6 etc hours. All that was needed was some common courtesy and information about what was (or was not) happening. As it was, they have made themselves look like a bunch of jokers who couldn't care less. I hope they were billed for wasting the guy's time who was sent from Richmond.

The men were 7 hours late, they got lost coming to the pick up, and then got lost on the way to the new house. They rushed carrying our belongings, and consequently damaged a book case by scuffing it. (Unable to claim as couldn't send pictures as had no internet). the men looked shattered and still had another job to go to. It was a badly managed operation and the men were ill equipped which led to a late and rushed job.

The quotes were not accurate as in our case none of the companies would factor in ferry crossings in the quotes, just removal costs were quoted. However we found simply removal very good and negotiateda deal with them.

They did a good job on the day of my move, the only complaint I have is that the price they quoted via e-mail and on the phone did not include VAT. This was misleading and the first time I realised this, was when the van driver demanded an extra £40 cash. It should be made clear that VAT will be charge on top of the price quoted.
