A small market town in Staffordshire, Uttoxeter lies near to the River Dove and in between the cities of Stoke and Derby. The town has had no less than 79 different spellings since it was mentioned in William the Conqueror’s Domesday Book, perhaps hinting at the history of the town and showing just how long it has stood for. In the modern day, the famous construction company JCB and the famous biscuit company Fox’s have factories just outside the town.
Uttoxeter is a town with both old and new buildings which will require different levels of survey scrutiny. As a general rule, older buildings are more likely to need a thorough Building Survey from a Chartered Surveyor rather than a less extensive HomeBuyer Report, but all buildings will need some report on them to ensure you don’t get any unwanted surprises after you’ve already moved in. Uttoxeter has experienced flooding in the past, so any house near the River Dove might need a Building Survey to check for any historical flood damage.
Although it may seem high, the cost of a Chartered Surveyor is relatively little compared to potential costs that might be incurred later down the road if you don’t get a report on your home before you move in, and with reallymoving you’ll find the best deal for you, so you can be having a day at the races in no time at all.
