Communication isn't the best and you have to chase a lot for any form of update, but they do exactly what it says on the tin and I can't argue with that.

Very good service. Stuck to the original price despite a lot of issues, including losing the first buyer just before completion - and then problems with the second buyer, including needing a special contract. Alex was very professional throughout - and good value considering how much work it all turned out to be.

Can't believe the service for the money. I had no need to worry, both Paul and Anne were excellent.

I cannot fault the actual systems in place at Russell and Russell, they are clearly used to churning through applications - their experience in conveyancing is clear, and worth the slight premium. Had a couple of hiccoughs even on my simple purchase (20 year build, no survey/search problems, no chain). 1) Did not quote the help to buy ISA and only when prompted did my solicitor ask me to initiate ISA account closure, get the first time buyer declarations sorted, and they could then apply to for the government bonus. This thankfully didn't delay exchange, but did lead to a bit of a last minute bank rush the week before exchange. 2) Although I didn't need to chase my solicitor for progress, that did not mean he updated us on the progress unless he needed something from us. Progress was made, but it would have been nice to know from my solicitor what was happening. An example was that we'd sent the questionnaire back after receiving the quote, we heard nothing back from anyone at Russell & Russell until I made a complaint. To their credit, my solicitor's supervisor contacted him to give me a phone call directly, and my solicitor then called me within an hour to apologise and explain the best method to contact him (leave a voicemail, and he'd answer at the end of the day). All in all, I would choose to go with Russell & Russell again.

The communication with the solicitor was poor, they did not keep us in the loop unless we hassled them, and even then the information given was limited. Documents which they said had been sent out never appeared. When we rang up to ask about progress it was difficult to get any information as the case fie could not often be located. Rarely able to speak to the solicitor themselves.

We appreciate there will be times when it is difficult to speak personally with your lawyer and for that reason, every lawyer and their assistant who assists in that transaction has been provided with voicemail and email facilities to allow clients the opportunity to leave messages. We do of course respond to those calls and messages at the earliest opportunity to update clients on progress being made. In regard to the missing documentation, our records indicated that all correspondence had been despatched however we regret if an item was not received. We are always happy to duplicate any documents that may be required.

Transaction was smooth enough, with some delays but quite quick. There is place for improvement.

More updates would have been useful to inform where the process was up to.
