Terrible service. Even when you rang the primary contacts direct number, no one ever picked up. Process was beyond slow. I rang about making payments for searches and had to leave a voicemail. A week and a half later and I still hadn't heard anything and no one was picking up the phone still. The estate agents also couldn't get through. Absolutely hopeless service. Do not use them.

Found them very helpful and efficient and when I needed advice it was sound. Had to wait for a call back a couple of times but I would still give them full marks. Will use them again.

Well, where do I start. This company are abysmal and need to put in place a strategy for effective (or at least adequate) customer service. I don't usually use websites like this to complain but Russell & Russell have left me no choice. All the way through our dealings with them their availability to answer phone calls was pathetic. Not once did someone pick up the phone when I rang up, it always went to voicemail. As someone else has noted on this page, it then took several calls and messages to then get anyone to ring back. Whilst this was not a huge issue early on, it became very stressful moving towards completion, and on completion day it was unbearable not being able to get in touch when we had moved past the agreed time of 12.00. The advice we got when we finally spoke to someone, or when a letter was sent out, was good but it was like trying to get blood out of a stone just to acquire it. Just keep us up-to-date! This is the biggest purchase anyone will have to make! When we were asked to provide feedback at the end of the process we were given a form to fill out in which I made a complaint covering the above points. To their credit, a supervisor called me back within a week of completion to discuss the matter but it was not a convenient time for me. He then promised he would ring again in January - and guess what, nothing. We are shocked and appalled that service like this is offered for such a large outlay of money. The staff are obviously under a lot of pressure but the lack of a support team and only one assistant to answer phones does them no favours. Their main switchboard have no clue as to whether solicitors are in the office either as they don't work in the same building and can't help! Shambles!

We were sorry to read of your disappointment with the communication elements of your transaction, especially when we had completed your move to your desired timescales. As we discussed with you, our lawyers and assistants cannot guarantee an immediate response to telephone calls and emails, but will always return communications at the earliest opportunity. That said, we do appreciate your comments if it means we can take steps to improve our service standards overall. We hope that our internal remedial action will now benefit other clients in the future and that our action with you will go some way to assuring you that we take your feedback seriously.
